On 14th September, EBARA Pumps East Africa (EPEA) held a seminar on fundamentals of pump technology in Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (Kenya) in collaboration with Africa Field Innovation Center for Agricultural Technology (AFICAT) of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Twenty engineers gathered to the ministry headquarters from Agricultural Technology Development Centers (ATDC) and other authorities. EPEA branch manager, Samuel Kibet, explained fundamentals of pumps such as types of pumps, structures of pumps and how to select an appropriate pump for various applications. The seminar was interactive as attendants asked questions such as on prevention of cavitation.

Agriculture is the largest segment of the Kenyan economy having 60% of total employment and 65% of total export. One of the challenges is improvement of productivity as majority of farmers relies on rainfall.

Since its opening in 2022, EPEA has provided standard pumps for agriculture sector which contribute to an improvement of productivity. In addition, EPEA will provide financial support on purchase of irrigation equipment so that more farmers can use pump technology.

This year is to celebrate the 60th year of bilateral relationship between Kenya and Japan.

EPEA continues social contribution activities to support development of Kenya and the region.
